We've got an easy, DIY lineup of Christmas activities that kids and adults will enjoy. While it's fun to pop open a store bought Advent calendar and enjoy a piece of chocolate every day (or one day, if you're like certain people we know), this year more than ever we're on the lookout for fun activities that will keep kids entertained and get us out of the house safely. What better way to stay motivated than by creating a countdown to Christmas? We've made it super simple for you. Let's get going!
When to Start
Many people out there can muster up the energy for an entire month's worth of holiday activities, but that honestly feels really overwhelming to us right now. So we've stuck to the handy number twelve. The traditional Twelve Days of Christmas starts on Christmas Day itself. If you'd rather countdown to Christmas, start on December 13th in order to finish up on the 24th.

Don’t you just love the look of dried orange slices? Citrus has long been a favorite addition for holiday home decor, and for good reason. Dried orange wheels can be used in wreaths and garlands, for edible garnishes and toppings, and so much more. Even better, you can roast them yourself! You’ll fill your home with the clean smell of citrus, plus have a tray full of those beauties to use.
Here’s the best part: it’s super easy to make your own dried oranges, lemons, and limes. Thinly slice up some citrus. Top a baking sheet with a wire rack or foil misted with cooking spray, then add the slices in a single layer. Bake at 200°F until dry, typically 2-3 hours. Depending on your oven and humidity, it might take longer or shorter, so keep an eye on them until you figure out what works.
Now that you know how to roast your own beautiful oranges, here are some ideas for how to use them for your home decor and more.
